Vegetarians and Vegans DO NOT GO HERE! The "Vegetable Dishes" all contain chicken broth. The section of the menu with the Ma-Po Bean Curd, General Tso's Tofu, Kung Pao Tofu, Sauteed Mixed Vegetable, etc is the one I asked about. The server today told me they all have chicken broth.

We bought a groupon and went to China Town today to have lunch in this restaurant. We ordered Dumpling, Szechuan Chicken and salmon sushi...trust me food was so pathetic that we have left every thing in between even we tried fried rice but it was so oily. I recommend not to waste money for this. They add gratuity in the bill that you have to pay even if you did not like the food. Additionally, the server was not good in english which was so hard for us to ask something.

It was the I'm at work in the middle of no where and of the places that deliver Wok and Roll is probably the most appealing option at this hour of the night. Wide range of dishes covering both your typical chinese and japanese fare. Chicken and Broccoli and sushi?! done. Food ok and price ok considering it's located in tourist ridden chinatown. Awesome Happy hour and they let me combine it with my groupon!!!! How about that?Flat out 5 stars for being amazingly priced. All the people who reviewed this spot and gave less then 3 stars deserve to be punched in the face.I got the 8 treasure clay pot which was awesome - scallop, lobster, shrimp, pork, chicken, squid, tofu not sure what the last meat was supposed to be but it also had veggies and was a LOT of food.Happy hour $1.25/pc of nigiri from 3-8 and $2.5 bud light. The fish cuts were good, they don't cut it smaller for happy hour which is awesome. I got salmon, yellowtail, mackeral, spicy tuna, and masagoI got the philly roll, cucumber wrapped roll and the shrimp and avocado salad. The philly roll has the smoked salmon which is very salty, but the creamcheese offsets it a bitThe cucumber wrapped roll had salmon and tuna with a ginger sauce and tobiko over it which was really good only $7.95!The shirmp and avocado salad uses a wasabi type dressing maybe mixed with sesame dressing, only get 2 pieces of shrimp and maybe 1/4 of an avocado with mixed greens. I ordered this cause I was starving and just wanted something fast. You definitely get your money's worth here, not sure if the groupon is still available but the Happy hour should be enough to get you in here.HAPPY HOUR GOES till 8! and its right next to the metro!

Ate here on a Friday night around 7:30 PM. There were about 6 groups ahead of us, but the line moved fairly well, only waited about 15 minutes. Had very good Steamed Pork Dumplings to start. They were good, thick dough style so if you prefer less dough I would try something else. I then had the Half Peking Duck- GREAT! Hoisin sauce was flavorful, duck was sweet and savory with very little fat. My dining partner had the Shrimp Chow Mein. Great crispy noodles and not to thick of a sauce. Food came quickly and was well done, and the price was great. I will definitely be returning.

Went here this evening to use one of the two groupons I purchased not long ago. The inside was surprisingly nice, although I must state that I saw one of the waitresses walk over to the restroom area (which is right in the middle of the restaurant) and spray perfume in the air about 1 minute before sitting a patron there...thought this was odd. Anyway to the food. The miso soup was great, fried crabmeat wontons way too greasy and not really very much flavor at all. I got 3 different sushi rolls. The tuna lovers roll was ok...nice fresh avacado, but it wasn't spicy at all (despite being supposedly spicy tuna), I got a soft shell crab roll that was solid, and something with a cooked scallop on it that was very scary looking and I couldn't eat more than one piece of. I'll be back to use my other groupon, but will probably look elsewhere for a steady sushi option.

My heart sank when I saw the front of the restaurant , the canopy was old and faded, the front looks really tiny. However, once you got inside it is small but cozy. We were seated in front of the sushi bar. So I watched the chef makes everything on my plate, which is great. I ordered a Wok and Roll Combo and Chirashi (Sashimi over seasoned sushi rice). I love all of them, the only criticism is the tempura. The batter is not the batter normally use for tempura. It was with bread crumbs, which is thick and unappetizing. It should be light and thin, made with wheat flour. I don't know if it is to do with cost or what. I don't really think the Wok and Roll Comba platter is worth it, at nearly $30. Especially one of my tempura only got half a prawn. Having said that, I noted that they have very cheap lunch served, so I am not sure if that is worth trying. Lunch specials are at $8. The alcohol is hotel pricing. However, before 8, you get cheap beer of three choice at only $2.5 each, Bud Light, Budweiser...etc. There is also sushi special for $1.25 a piece between Monday to Friday before 8 pm. All in all, I would go back but might not have the tempura.

The sushi is mediocre and overpriced for the quality. The fried rice is flavorless. The service leaves a lot to be desired. Short anecdote: my wife ordered a glass of cab sauv but was brought a glass of white wine instead. When she pointed out the mistake to the server, the server replied "Well, it's ok. You can drink it." My wife politely declined and eventually got the cab sauv (which was surprisingly good). So in a pinch, this place will do. But with so many other better places around, why bother?

Ordered from here on Sunday 2/17 - I actually thought the food was decent and reasonably priced, and for delivery it came relatively fast.I got the Shrimp Tempura Roll, the Cucumber Roll and an order of the original Wonton Soup. My friend got the Kung Pao Tofu and they were extremely accommodating. She has a horrible gluten allergy and the woman who took her order was able to tell her that the Kung Pao sauce has Soy Sauce in it which contains gluten, so they made an order especially for her with no Soy Sauce in it (warning of course that the sauce would lack color as a result), and also gave her soft Tofu instead of fried Tofu due to gluten, too.The Shrimp tempura was actually deveined which is more than I can say for specialty sushi places like Sushiko in Bethesda where you expect it to be, and it's not.The wonton soup wasn't the best I've ever had. The broth was a little too salty for me, and had an off putting fishy flavor to it that I don't think was supposed to be there. Not bad for a quick meal :)

So this is my second time coming here. The first time I came was before I started Yelping, and I distinctly remember not enjoying my sushi experience. The second time was slightly better, but still sub-par.Atmosphere: It was super cold. Yes, it is the middle of winter, but I felt like I had to keep my jacket on the whole time. It's not too much of an atmosphere, pretty standard and just feels like a place where you go to eat and not really hang out...?Food: They were good with accommodating substitutions in our meals, but the quality of the cuts and the sashimi itself was subpar. Also--many of the pieces of sashimi were still stuck together, something I've rarely seen. The salad was better than average, though, it had more than just iceberg and carrots; had some spinach, leafy greens and fresh herbs. Portion sizes are decent, but usually I go for quality, not quantity.Service: The server forgot to ask whether we wanted soup/salad with our sashimi and I forgot to ask when we were ordering and she just came out with two bowls of miso. She didn't make too much of a fuss though when both of us wanted salad instead.Note: I don't know if this is always what happens, or if it's only with Groupons, but they charged a mandatory 18% gratuity. There were two of us.In regards to the Groupon, nowhere on it does it say we had to order a minimum of the Groupon face value, but they didn't allow us to order exactly $39 worth of food.I was reluctant in getting the Groupon because I had such a bad experience the first time, and this second visit helped me confirm that I will not be coming back.

When I found out that It was just a combination of both (and an American version - "Chow Mein") I lost my enthusiasum.Durng the Inaguration, it was a crap shoot for lunch in the Chinatown area.. Everyone flocked to the better / cleaner restaurants. I picked this place because the name was funny.... The joke was on me.. The place was nice on the inside with black tables lining the left side of the dining room and a full bar on the left. The staff seemed happy and polite but who wouldn't be! The place was 4/5 full!I just grabbed a simple Beef Chow Fun.. So simple I think they forgot to toss the rice noodles! Layer upon layer of rice noodles could be separated.. Just bone dry. You could see the difference The sliced beef was tender with little flavor withthe addition of lots of bean sprouts, white onions and sliced scallions. I just tossed the pasta with a little Soy Sauce. There are sushi rolls, Sashimi and Tempura but I think that I would rather have a restaurant focus in one direction.. Fusion by combining two food cultures on the same plate is awesome but this was just a misunderstanding on my part.. It was a menu with two cuisines on the same menu.

Don't order frozen drinks at a Chinese restaurant. That should be obvious, but we had this badly timed craving and paid for it by pretending to enjoy an excessively sweet mixture with vodka (instead of rum.) The sushi was decent, especially the Crunchy Salmon Avocado roll. We also had the spicy tuna, California, and salmon roll. The salmon roll was bland, California was snackable, and the spicy tuna was worthy. I had the wonton soup and it was average. We saw a family with what looked to be General Taos Chicken and it looked too saucy and sticky. The general feel of the place was grimy, I would probably not return. This was about average for Chinese restaurants.

But I'll be honest, when I first heard about this place - I wasn't looking forward to it. I typically dislike getting sushi at places that have Chinese food as well. I sucked it up and let her pick the place (it's her favorite place for sushi). We were seated immediately. She brought her adorable 2 year old son, who didn't want to sit still for some time without being able to play the drums using chopsticks and his plate. I could see the anger and annoyance in the servers eyes, but they were really good sports. They made it through his short lived drum session without giving us a hard time. Definitely child friendly place. We ordered pretty much every special roll on the menu. We just started pointing to everything on the main special roll menu that had photos.Dragon Roll - Crabmeat, cucumber with eel and avocado on top.Hawaiian Roll - Shrimp tempura, avocado with spicy tuna, crunchy and tobiko on top.Dynamite Roll - Kani cucumber, avocado with spicy scallop on top.Salmon Lover Roll - Eel, cream cheese, fresh salmon, avocado and ikura on top.Sakura Roll - Tuna, salmon, yellowtail, kani, tobiko and avocado in bean seaweed.Tuna Lover Roll - Spicy tuna, avocado, fresh tuna and tobiko on top.Rising Sun Roll - Spicy shrimp, cucumber with seared tuna on top.Bamboo Roll - Baked eel, cucumber with avocado on top.Crunchy Salmon Avocado Roll - Salmon, avocado with crunchy tempura.I was satisfied with most of the rolls. While I didn't LOVE their sushi, I was overall pleased. I typically like more of the raw and simplier rolls when having sushi. Here, I really liked the more cooked and americanized rolls. The ones I liked most were;Crunchy Salmon Avocado RollHawaiian RollDynamite RollI don't really care for creamcheese in my sushi, and most of their rolls had it. Additionally, the tuna had a funny taste. As well as the yellowtail and basically any other raw fish. It wasn't awful, but not really the freshest. The unagi also tastes odd here. I'm not sure what it was but I couldn't do the eel rolls, it was way too fishy for me. And normally I can eat a huge bowl of unagi over rice.Again, I didn't come here expecting the best. So I wasn't disappointed for the most part. The prices were decent. The service was good and quick. Atmosphere was nice and comfortable. Most likely, I won't be coming back.

As a good bay area Californian, I do enjoy my sushi, but have grown somewhat picky about it. I will confess that I am usually into some "fancier" rolls that have a bit of sauce on them.Having been in DC for nearly two weeks without having my usual weekly (or bi-weekly) sushi, my friend (also from CA) and I decided to venture out to this place in Chinatown. I ordered one more basic roll, perhaps it was the avocado eel roll or something and then another that was more expensive and elaborate (rainbow roll perhaps). I was really excited to have some good sushi! The rolls came and looked fine, but when I tasted the rainbow roll (or whatever it was) it was terrible and tasted as I'd imagine dead cat to taste. It was the most disgusting sushi I ever tried. My friend also tried it and we determined something was wrong with it. When we told them though, they did take it back and off the bill and eventually apologized, so that was cool of them.My other roll was fine and the rice tasted fresh, but I guess I am too traumatized to try the more elaborate rolls here now! Beware!

It's actually quite nice now.The cocktails, especially the sake-tinis, are delicious. Expensive, but worth it.The happy hour special of $1.25 per a piece of sushi is an excellent deal.Their basic sushi rolls - spicy tuna, etc. - are extremely reasonably priced at $5-$6. Their specialty / more creative rolls are double the cost, but done well. The Hawaiian roll in particular is a favorite of mine. The service is always pleasant and attentive.Sure, you can probably get better sushi elsewhere, but you'll pay a much higher price. I really do not like Wok and Roll, and that's unfortunate because I'd been there 4 years ago and had a relatively good experience then. However, I went back recently and really, really don't like this place.Let's see what was wrong with it...-Service: The service really sucked here. From the moment we walked in, it was not good. We ordered waters and they completely forgot about them until we reminded them again to bring water for us halfway through the meal. That's the most rudimentary thing at a restaurant. How could one forget the water? Also, the entire serving staff sat down together and ate lunch while there was no one to attend the customers... um, very unprofessional! Our waitress sat down and ate her food before she even brought our food out... We also had to remind her to bring the beef that we had ordered.-Food:I ordered the wok n roll sushi just to try it because it sounded interesting. I've never seen sushi that looks black on the inside. It was really dark and though it didn't taste terrible, it wasn't very fresh either. As for the other food, I did not like my crispy sczechwan beef at all. From my experience (and I've had it in China too), Sczechwan beef doesn't taste completely sweet... it's supposed to be spicy. And the menu at Wok n Roll even said that it was supposed to be spicy. Well, my order was not spicy at all and was way too sweet. At first I thought I would just eat it and deal with it but it was a lot of food to try and force myself to eat so I asked them to make it less sweet and make it spicier and more savory. They brought it out and I'm not sure what they did with it, because it tasted almost exactly the same... very disappointing...In the end, I really can't give this place more than 2 stars, and I'm giving it one star too many already. Maybe I just had a bad experience? Maybe I should go back and give it another go? I don't know... I just know that I probably won't go back for a while.

Or some kinda of fish over rice. I usually opt for the Japanese lunch.Super fast service, no qualms about taking credit card (a real concern in Chinatown at an Asian restaurant). This is also one of the only places in DC that I've seen bubble tea, but it's pretty mediocre.HAPPY HOURCame here on a Wednesday afternoon for the tail end of their happy hour, which offers $1 pieces of sushi and $2 bottles of miller light or bud light. Might just go pick up next time.?
